Stir Fry Cabbage With Peas Recipe

Cabbage with peas is a mild home-style cooked recipe, quick and easy to make, that you will enjoy for any meal.

Ingredients

  • Cabbage - 2 cups finely cut
  • Green Peas - 1/2 cup
  • Oil - 3-4 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Asafoetida (Hing) - 1/4 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Green chilies - 2-3 vertically slit
  • Salt - To taste
  • Sugar (optional) - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  1. Take 2 cups of cabbage finely cut into log and thin slices.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add 1/2 tsp mustard seeds. Wait till they crackle and then add a pinch of asafoetida (hing), 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, and 2 vertically slit green chilies.
  3. Add the chopped cabbage and mix well.
  4. Reduce the gas to low and cover to cook for 5 minutes. (If the cabbage is very dry, add the green peas and the spices, as given in step 4 and 5 now. And then cover to cook till the cabbage is soft. The spices and salt will help release some water when cooking.) Then proceed to step 7.)
  5. Add the green peas and cover again to cook till the cabbage is soft.
  6. Add salt to taste, 1/2 tsp sugar, 1/4 tsp coriander powder, and 1/4 tsp cumin powder.
  7. Mix and let cook uncovered for a minute and turn off the gas.
  8. Serve with roti/chapati.
