Stir Fry Cabbage With Peas Recipe
Cabbage with peas is a mild home-style cooked recipe, quick and easy to make, that you will enjoy for any meal.
Ingredients
- Cabbage - 2 cups finely cut
- Green Peas - 1/2 cup
- Oil - 3-4 tsp
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Asafoetida (Hing) - 1/4 tsp
- Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
- Green chilies - 2-3 vertically slit
- Salt - To taste
- Sugar (optional) - 1/2 tsp
- Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
- Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
Instructions
- Take 2 cups of cabbage finely cut into log and thin slices.
- Heat oil in a pan and add 1/2 tsp mustard seeds. Wait till they crackle and then add a pinch of asafoetida (hing), 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, and 2 vertically slit green chilies.
- Add the chopped cabbage and mix well.
- Reduce the gas to low and cover to cook for 5 minutes. (If the cabbage is very dry, add the green peas and the spices, as given in step 4 and 5 now. And then cover to cook till the cabbage is soft. The spices and salt will help release some water when cooking.) Then proceed to step 7.)
- Add the green peas and cover again to cook till the cabbage is soft.
- Add salt to taste, 1/2 tsp sugar, 1/4 tsp coriander powder, and 1/4 tsp cumin powder.
- Mix and let cook uncovered for a minute and turn off the gas.
- Serve with roti/chapati.
